Secrets of Cheapside – Sunday Lunch deal
Secrets of Cheapside – Sunday Lunch deal
23 July 2012 Comments Off on Secrets of Cheapside – Sunday Lunch dealThis Sunday 29th July, I’m leading the first of a new series of walks linked to a great restaurant deal with the Paternoster Chop House near St Paul’s Cathedral. The idea is that you get a great price for a Sunday lunch in a good restaurant, and the opportunity to do a walk around the City of London (starting at 11:30) before hand to get you in the right mood for the meal. You must book at the restaurantto take advantage of the deal.
Each week a group of City of London guides will offer a different walk. But the offer kicks off with a walk I’ve constructed around the Cheapside area. This is really one of the most fascinating areas in London. It’s been very well documented, both from the archaeological point of view but also because the City of London is the best documented medieval City in the world, we also have a lot of documentary evidence of what went on in this area.
And in medieval times Cheapside was one of the largest market and commercial areas in Europe. So come and hear about its history, and see some of the great buildings and hidden alleys and corners that make it such a wonderful place to visit.
I need to thank fellow Footprints guide Tina Baxter of Miss B Takes a Walk for organising this deal.
