Tina Baxter has a new walk Women Through Time – Fleet Street on Sunday May 10th
Fleet Street has always been seen as a the domain of men, whether they be newspaper magnates, editors, publishers, journalists, photographers, news boys! Well for each and every famous man there is certainly at least one woman, if not two, who can stand up and be counted amongst them. The likes of Rachel Beer, editor-in-chief of The Observer and The Sunday Times. The first ‘glossy’ style magazine Queen was the brainchild of Mrs Beeton no less. The first British daily newspaper The Daily Courant was created by Elizabeth Mallett. My walk taking place next weekend covers many more independent and strong-minded women who achieved much in this so-called ‘man’s world’. An unusual and interesting walk down and around Fleet Street, so come and meet these ladies who made it happen! More details and tickets
There is also a walk in the morning around the Guildhall area covering ladies who had an impact on the City and London in general.
