Dickens 150th anniversary
Tuesday 9 June marks the 150th anniversary of the death of Charles Dickens – one of the greatest authors in the English language. Dickens famously referenced many real London locations in his books and to commemorate this anniversary, Footprints of London is running a series of Dickens related walks in the first two weeks of June. You can explore the Dickens connections in the City, Westminster and Southwark as well as Rochester. And you can visit places mentioned in his books, some of which have hardly changed since Dickens wrote about them and others which are really just there in name only now. And sometimes your guide will read an extract from a Dickens’ work related to the exact place you are standing.
A must for all Dickens fans.
