On the eastern fringe of the City of London, and once home to the biggest port in the world, the East End has attracted various immigrant groups over time. Some have been absorbed, others have settled before moving on. All have left clear traces.
This virtual tour looks at the visual reminders of the most recognisable groups of settlers. We consider seventeenth-century Jewish and French refugees and eighteenth-century Germans. Also we consider Bangladeshi incomers and the Irish community.
This is a virtual tour hosted live via Zoom video conferencing, where your guide will show slides and give a talk to accompany them. There will be the opportunity for questions both during and after the talk.
