Discover the story of aviation in London from the early days of make do and mend via the glamour of the first commercial flights through to the opening up of air travel for all. We will hear about London’s first proper airport at Croydon and how Heathrow came to be London’s main Airport. We will learn that London chalked up some world firsts – such in-flight catering in 1919, the first airport railway station in 1935 and the first city centre air terminal which opened in 1939.
