Margate has been a firm favourite getaway for Londoners for many years and the town has had a revival recently making it a trendy location for artists. In this Virtual Tour using Zoom we will look at the historic Old Town of Margate, and hear about how the town became a popular place for the wealthy to enjoy the benefits of sea bathing, dances and the occasional bit of gambling.

We’ll talk about the beautiful sands beloved of Turner and T S Eliot, and hear how the railway transformed the town into a pleasure place for working class Londoners.
