This sixty minute virtual tour explores the buildings of London Borough of Ealing
In 1902 surveyor Charles Jones christened Ealing “Queen of the Suburbs” with ample parks and gardens making it a desirable place to live. However the borough includes ancient settlements like Perivale and Northolt which have Medieval churches, while Ealing has Sir John Soane’s country mansion Pitzhanger Manor. Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s impressive Wharncliffe Viaduct and the Hanwell Locks on the Grand Union Canal represent some of the infrastructure of the borough.
In this talk Rob will tell the stories of his favourite Ealing buildings – like the Hoover Building, St Bernard’s Hospital , Brentham Garden Suburb and the Drayton Court Hotel where Ho Chi Minh once worked.
This is part of a series of talks Rob has produced on his favourite buildings in each London Borough, so far he has covered Hackney, Brent, Hounslow, Barking and Dagenham, Newham, Hillingdon and Wandsworth
