Virtual Tour – East Coast Shipwrecks
20 April 2025 No Comments on Virtual Tour – East Coast ShipwrecksWith so many ships having travelled up and down the East Coast of England, it is not surprising some of them have come to grief. Footprints of London guide Rob Smith will tell the story a few of the shipwrecks that have happened on the East Coast. The stories will include disasters like the sinking of HMS Gloucester in 1682, which caused a national scandal, the wreck of SS Monte Nevoso, whose crew was rescued by legendary Cromer lifeboatman Henry Blogg and the Terukuni Maru, a Japanese ship sunk by a German mine off the coast of Harwich. Rob will tell you where you can find surviving parts of some of the wrecks.
This is a live virtual tour hosted via Zoom video conferencing where your guide will give an illustrated presentation of the tour route with an accompanying talk. There will be opportunities for questions and interaction both during and after the virtual tour.
