“I am not dead. I am in Herne Bay” – thus wrote Marcel Duchamp to his friends when he went to escape the art scene. And so this small Kent resort took its part in the birth of the surrealist movement.
You’ll discover the delights of Herne Bay on this two hour walking tour that takes in some of the Regency buildings and the Edwardian seafront buildings. And there are lots of stories of smuggling, World War two, storms and a building inspired by the City of London
The walk starts at Herne Bay railway station, and finishes at the seafront where there are plenty of places to eat and drink. The walk is about two miles and includes some steps.
