West Drayton in the borough of Hillingdon has a Tudor Gateway hidden away among its modern housing, and lots of other interesting things too

West Drayton Manor was the home to the Paget family – important in the court of Henry VIII but they are on the run when they plot against Elizabeth I. Rob will be telling the generational intrigue of the owners of West Drayton Manor before we see its surviving gatehouse and 13th century church.

The walk also visits beautiful Queen Anne era Southlands House, the green where labour protests took place in Victorian times and the former brewery which employed Irish migrants. There’s also a short walk along the Grand Union Canal to hear about a school for canal boat children and the story of the actor Moore Marriott

The walk is about 2.5 miles
