Join me to explore the traces of the impact of World War Two on Bethnal Green.
We commemorate the hardships faced on the Home Front, visiting the sites of three air raid shelters. As we do, we’ll consider the plans for London drawn up during the War – not to rebuild London, but to re-shape it entirely.
Meet me at the Stairway to Heaven Memorial at the northwest corner of Bethnal Green Gardens, just by Bethnal Green Underground station (Roman Road exit).
The tour will take approximately two hours. It finishes near Shoreditch High Street Overground Stations, and a short bus ride from Liverpool Street and Old Street Stations.
