A walk around the former sites of the Elstree studios in Borehamwood, where some of the most famous films in history were made.

Some of the most famous films in cinema history were made at the Elstree studios in Borehamwood. Star Wars, The Shining, The Dam Busters, Ice Cold in Alex, The Masque of the Red Death, Get Carter, Murder on the Orient Express and The King’s Speech among the many that have at least in part been filmed at the six film studios in Borehamwood. In addition, many TV series have been made there from the Saint to Big Brother.

This guided walk will look at Borehamwood’s film history. Although many of the studios have been demolished, Rob will visit the sites of where these important films were made and talk about the stars and directors who worked on them. Although there is no access to the studio itself the walk will also pass the current Elstree Studios – still an important facility for making films, and the outside of the BBC Studios. You’ll even get a glimpse of Eastenders’ Albert Square
