The public image of the City of London is as a place of finance. We think of high-powered traders and financiers all putting profits before people.
It might surprise you to learn that some very significant helping hands are being extended by the City to help a variety of people. And that some important charities and philanthropic ventures began in the City.
This tour celebrates those who have put – and continue to put – others first. Some ventures have involved channelling wealth in the right direction. Others have been started by people with no more resources than the will to help.
But all are worth our time, and will inspire us to extend our own helping hands.
Meet me outside Christ Church Spitalfields on Commercial Street, opposite Spitalfields Market. We finish in Postman’s Park, just to the north of St Paul’s Underground Station.
