As part of the Crouch End Festival, a chance to discover the historic Town Hall Square

The modernist masterpiece of Hornsey Town Hall is a Grade II* listed building recently renovated as part of a private sector development. Opened in 1935, it was the centre for the Borough of Hornsey, and its architect Reginald Uren also created a Town Hall Square flanked by electricity and gas showrooms, making local government at the heart of the local community. On this tour you will learn the history behind the square and and its buildings, with the wonderful bas reliefs, created by Arthur Ayres at the begining of his career. The Town Hall was at the heart of pop and rock in the 1950s, with the Kinks, and Queen and has paid host to several iconic films and TV programmes.

Please note this is an external walking tour and there is no access to the interior of the Town Hall. Before its renovation, Oonagh used to guide inside and can describe the major rooms.
