On the eastern fringe of the City of London, and once home to the biggest port in the world, the East End has attracted various immigrant groups over time.
Some have been absorbed, others have settled before moving on. All have left clear traces.
Meet me outside Aldgate Underground Station.
The tour will take approximately two hours, and finishes at Spitalfields Market, near Liverpool Street Station.
