Walking Tour – St Albans Day Out
4 November 2024 Comments Off on Walking Tour – St Albans Day OutLeave London? Surely not! While the capital’s charms are never ending, Rob would like to invite you to a visit to the town whre he lives – St Albans. Just 25 minutes by train from central London, St Albans has a history going back to long before the Romans, and while the city is famous for its Verulanium Museum and Roman Theatre, Rob’s walk will show you a whole lot more. Taking a winding route through the city streets Rob will show you
Where the Peasants Revolt took place in Hertfordshire
The place where the Wars of the Roses started
A street corner where a scene from Shakespeare is set
Traditional coaching inns
A Victorian prison with familiar gates and a courtroom you may recognise too
The home of the Ryder Cup
After the walk you can visit the newly opened St Albans Museum
Meet at St Albans City station, which you can reach by train from St Pancras, Blackfriars, Farringdon, West Hampstead and other Thameslink stations
Heres some reviews from people who have been on the walk
“Rob Smith guided walk of St Albans on Wed 28th Oct 2015 was excellent. A thoroughly enjoyable 2 hour walking tour of the town plus quick (for me ) drink in pub afterwards. Rob knows his stuff. Highly recommend this tour. You have afternoon free to revisit some of the sights or visit the market or roman ruins — either way go and visit” SD
“Rob the guide is a friendly helpful guide with questions answered. My friend and I enjoyed the 2 hour tour, been to a couple of his other walks with historical stories. Would recomend.” LF
