In 1802 the West India Docks opened, an unprecedented development which saw Poplar blossom to dominate the eastern side of the Tower Hamlets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just downriver is Blackwall. It was an important embarkation point long before the arrival of the East India Company in 1617.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This tour tells of the beginnings of London\u2019s dockland, the capital’s trading interface with the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a virtual tour hosted live via Zoom video conferencing, where your guide will show slides and give a talk to accompany them. There will be the opportunity for questions both during and after the talk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
