P\ufeffeople born in Africa have been coming to London since the very beginning of the city. In the Museum of London collection a Roman storage jar carries the name of Lucius Tettius Africanus – a Roman citizen from North Africa. Mary Fillis of Morrocco was a basket weaver living in Tudor London. Victoria Davies was the Lagos born god daughter of Queen Victoria who lived in Hampstead. In the 20th Century London was home to African independence campaigners like Kwame Nkrumah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
