Aldgate’s stories are perhaps well hidden behind its seemingly plain frontage. However, it’s an area full of rich interest going right back to the Romans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It has its boundaries – a silver dragon, Aldgate pump, and of course the Aldgate. But the area is a boundary in itself, between the business City and the vibrant East End, and between London and what lies beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over time traders, refugees and commuters have passed in and out of the Aldgate. Some were affluent while some were needy – but all have their stories to tell us!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meet me outside Aldgate Station, on Aldgate High Street. The tour will take approximately two hours, and finishes back on Aldgate High Street, just along from Aldgate Station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
