This Sunday 29th July, I’m leading the first of \u00a0a new series of walks linked to a great restaurant deal with the Paternoster Chop House<\/a> near St Paul’s Cathedral. \u00a0 The idea is that you get a great price for a Sunday lunch in a good restaurant, and the opportunity to do a walk around the City of London \u00a0(starting at 11:30) \u00a0before hand to get you in the right mood for the meal. \u00a0You must book at the restaurant<\/a>to take advantage of the deal.<\/p>\n

Each week a group of City of London guides will offer a different walk. \u00a0But the offer kicks off with a walk I’ve constructed around the Cheapside area. \u00a0This is really one of the most fascinating areas in London. \u00a0It’s been very well documented, both from the archaeological point of view but also because the City of London is the best documented medieval City in the world, we also have a lot of documentary evidence of what went on in this area.<\/p>\n

And in medieval times Cheapside was one of the largest market and commercial areas in Europe. \u00a0So come and hear about its history, and see some of the great buildings and hidden alleys and corners that make it such a wonderful place to visit.<\/p>\n
