For some reason he has gone down in history as a hero &#8211; the Lionheart &#8211; but he didn&#8217;t speak English and in his 10 years as King of England he spent only a few months in the country. Famed as a warrior and Crusader he failed to capture Jerusalem and angered fellow Crusaders &#8211; to such an extent that he was taken captive by the Duke of Austria and the Holy Roman Emperor and his ransom payment nearly bankrupted the country.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"zemanta-pixie\" style=\"margin-top: 10px; height: 15px;\"><a class=\"zemanta-pixie-a\" title=\"Enhanced by Zemanta\" href=\"http:\/\/www.zemanta.com\/?px\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"zemanta-pixie-img\" style=\"border: none; float: right;\" src=\"http:\/\/img.zemanta.com\/zemified_a.png?x-id=fe19a3bd-69ac-4cd8-8224-05cc316de595\" alt=\"Enhanced by Zemanta\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My vote goes to Richard I.
