As part of our Literary Footprints Festival<\/a> we are holding an evening called Bleeding London<\/a> – which includes a preview of the Royal Photographic Society Exhibition of their project to photograph every street in London. The Footprints of London guides have been choosing their favourite streets – this time Sue Bingham looks at Exeter ‘Change<\/p>\n

Exeter ‘Change<\/em><\/p>\n

The Exeter \u2018Change was on the north\u00a0side\u00a0of the Strand (where the Strand Palace Hotel is now located). \u00a0In the late 1700s the building was a smart\u00a0<\/em>shopping centre.<\/em><\/p>\n

At one point the first floor was home to a menagerie owned by a Mr Pidcock. \u00a0He had a wide variety of\u00a0animals on\u00a0display including a tiger, an elephant, a rhino, a hyena and lots more. \u00a0The poster\u00a0you see is one that can be purchased at British Museum on-line.<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n
