The BBC approached <a href=\"http:\/\/footprintsoflondon.com\/sean-patterson\">Sean Patterson<\/a> to\u00a0appear in the programme talking about Charles Booth&#8217;s poverty map of Deptford. Michael Portillo chose\u00a0Deptford as this was the location of London&#8217;s first proper passenger railway, but beneath the viaducts\u00a0people lived in terrible poverty. Social campaigner Charles Booth highlighted this with his famous map. The episode of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/b04ynntc\">Great British Railway Journeys on 12th January<\/a> will feature some of the photographs, which Joanna found in a charity shop a few years ago.
