Have you visited Forgotten Spaces in Somerset House<\/a> yet? \u00a0It’s a small, and really interesting and well laid out exhibition that has been installed in the underground passages (including the famous Dead House<\/a>) under the Courtyard. \u00a0It’s a series of proposals generated by a RIBA design competition<\/a> earlier in the year. \u00a0There are some excellent ideas – the winner Alex Scott-Whitby proposes a series of art studios based in City of London Church Spires (he’s working in a studio based in the Tower of St Mary Woolnoth<\/a>), but there are other projects that cover most of the other areas of London, and some are absolute corkers. Quality of information shown on each project is pretty good.<\/p>\n

I particularly liked the proposal to renovate the overground parts of Highgate Station<\/a> (with the currently sealed up railway tunnel portals). \u00a0Southwark<\/a> is well served with a number of green projects. I do hope that some of these proposals are taken forward and built. \u00a0I’d love to visit the cafe that could be built under the Hungerford \u00a0and Golden Jubilee Bridges<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It’s definitely worth an hour or so of time if you are passing. \u00a0Exhibition closes on 29th January 2012.<\/p>\n
