\"Capital<\/a><\/p>\n

Spring is on its way and the Footprints of London guides have a new challenge for you!<\/span><\/p>\n

Over the spring and early summer we will be walking the Capital Ring path, a 78 mile circular path <\/span>divided into 15 sections <\/span>connecting parks and open spaces.<\/span><\/p>\n

However long you have lived in London you will see the city in a new light if you complete the walk, and there will be lots of new places to visit along the way. And with our guides to lead you and tell a few interesting stories along the way, you don’t need to bring a map or read the guide book.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, join us for the challenge on one of our guided walks around London’s Capital Ring Path; t<\/span>he walks will be on Sunday mornings starting at 11am and the journey starts on 7th April.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

Here is the full schedule<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

\"King<\/a>7th April:<\/strong> Woolwich to Falconwood<\/a> with Rob Smith – along the Thames through the old Woolwich Dockyard, then past the Thames Barrier, Charlton House and passing the romantic folly Severndroog Castle<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

14th April:<\/strong> Falconwood to Grove Park<\/a> with Roberta Arden – passing historic Eltham Palace<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

21st April<\/strong>: Grove Park to Crystal Palace<\/a> with Rob Smith – taking in Downham Woodland \"thomas<\/a>Walk, Georgian Beckenham Place Mansion and Crystal Palace Park<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

28th April:<\/strong> Crystal Palace to Streatham Common<\/a> with Sean Patterson – calling at magnificent Norwood Grove Mansion, the Rookery Gardens and Biggin Woods<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

5th May:<\/strong> Streatham Common to Wimbledon Park<\/a> with Stephen Benton – passing some impressive architecture such as the mosque-like Streatham Pumping Station, 1930’s Du Cane Court and Tooting Bec Lido<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Capital<\/a>12th May:<\/strong> Wimbledon Park to Richmond Bridge<\/a> with Tina Baxter and Jack Yeomanson – a beautiful section with miles of parkland crossing Wimbledon Common to Caesar’s Camp and then into Richmond Park with a spectacular and surprising view of London<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

19th May:<\/strong> Richmond Bridge to Osterley Lock<\/a> with Jen Pedler – walking along the Thames before crossing the grounds of Syon Park, home of the Duke of Northumberland and then onto the Grand Union Canal<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Streatham<\/a>26th May:<\/strong> Osterley Lock to Greenford<\/a> with Alan Fortune – passing Wharncliffe Viaduct, one of the first structures built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel<\/span><\/p>\n

2nd June:<\/strong> Greenford to Preston Park<\/a> with Jen Pedler – climbing to two famous viewpoints, Horsenden Hill and Harrow on the Hill where it passes the famous school<\/span><\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9th June<\/strong>: Preston Park to Hendon with Chris Firmin – taking in two beautiful oasis – Fryent Country Park and Welsh Harp Reservoir, as well as some interesting 20th century housing<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Capital<\/a>16th June:<\/strong> Hendon Park to Highgate<\/a>\u00a0 with Marilyn Greene – visiting Hendon Park and the River Brent, parkland along the side of Hampstead Garden Suburb and finishing in three woods that formed the ancient forest of Middlesex<\/span><\/p>\r\n

23rd June:<\/strong> Highgate to Stoke Newington<\/a> with Anthony Davis – taking in abandoned railway line and overgrown Victorian cemetery<\/span><\/p>\r\n

30th June:<\/strong> Stoke Newington to Hackney Wick<\/a> with Sue McCarthy – visiting Springfield Park and walking beside the River Lea, which is full of industrial history.\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/p>\r\n

7th July:<\/strong> Hackney Wick to Beckton<\/a> with Jenni Bowley – Passing by the Olympic Park and London Stadium, and the beautiful building at Abbey Mills that is known as the Cathedral of Sewage!<\/span><\/p>\r\n

14th July:<\/strong> Beckton to North Woolwich<\/a> with Neil Sinclair – complete the journey with a walk beside the vast Royal Albert Dock before reaching the Thames by the Woolwich Ferry where you can give yourself a well deserved pat on the back!<\/span><\/p>\r\n
