What do you do if four of the most famous people in the world turn up outside your house? Ignore them of course!<\/p>\n

On Sunday 28th July 1968 The Beatles arrived outside this house in Highgate with photographers Don McCullin, Stephen Goldblatt and Tom Murray. The photoshoot was part of what became known as The Beatles Mad Day Out, a plan to get some publicity photos for the forthcoming White Album, taken in unusual locations across London.<\/p>\n

John Lennon had wanted a photo next to the tomb of Karl Marx in Highgate Cemetery, however they had forgotten one thing – in 1968 London practically everything was shut on a Sunday evening, including the cemetery gates. So they settled for some photos in the street, with Paul McCartney wearing a Liverpool FC rosette outside the front garden of this house.<\/p>\n

It did not take long for the two girls who lived in the house to notice what was going on outside, and they ran to fetch their father from the back garden. However he did not take their cries of “Dad, Dad The Beatles are outside!” seriously and ignored them, only going for a look when the Fab Four were already walking away to go to the next destination.<\/p>\n

You can follow The Beatles Mad Day Out<\/a> yourself on Sunday 28th 2019 when Rob will be visiting all the locations the photoshoot went to, and will be recreating some of the photos, so if you fancy taking the part of one of The Beatles come along.<\/p>\n
