{"id":749,"date":"2012-01-05T10:17:35","date_gmt":"2012-01-05T10:17:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/footprintsoflondon.com\/?p=749"},"modified":"2012-01-05T10:17:35","modified_gmt":"2012-01-05T10:17:35","slug":"no-mr-bond-i-expect-you-to-visit-greenwich","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/footprintsoflondon.com\/live\/2012\/01\/no-mr-bond-i-expect-you-to-visit-greenwich\/","title":{"rendered":"No, Mr Bond; I expect you to die"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_755\" style=\"width: 341px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/footprintsoflondon.com\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/bond2web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-755\" class=\" wp-image-755 \" title=\"James Bond\" src=\"http:\/\/footprintsoflondon.com\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/bond2web.jpg\" alt=\"Image of hearse\" width=\"331\" height=\"626\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-755\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">James Bond filming (c) Neil Sinclair 2012<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The latest James Bond thriller landed on terra firma at <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Greenwich\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Greenwich\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Greenwich<\/a> on Friday 6<sup>th<\/sup> January when filming for Skyfall, 23<sup>rd<\/sup> movie in the Bond franchise, took place at the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Old Royal Naval College\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Old_Royal_Naval_College\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Old Royal Naval College<\/a> (ORNC).<\/p>\n<p>We can\u2019t reveal too much about the plot, otherwise there may be even more dead bodies in Greenwich than those in the make-believe morgue set up this week in the undercroft beneath the ORNC\u2019s magnificent Painted Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Eight coffins draped in union jack flags and arranged in two neat rows occupied the vaulted ceilinged room which normally houses the elegant tables and chairs of the King William Undercroft restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>MI6 chief M, played for the seventh time by national treasure <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Judi Dench\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Judi_Dench\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Judi Dench<\/a>, was filmed in the undercroft, surveying the gruesome aftermath of a mass assassination of her agents. Thankfully, although entirely predictably, James Bond \u2013 portrayed for the third time by Daniel Craig \u2013 was not among them.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the filming, a solemn procession of black hearses carrying flag-draped coffins was seen driving slowly along College Way, the main road which bisects the Old Royal Naval College, and past seated mourners.<\/p>\n<p>In the finished film, due for release around November or December, will this be a street in Whitehall near the Ministry of Defence and the Foreign Office perhaps?<\/p>\n<p>Skyfall director <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Sam Mendes\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sam_Mendes\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Sam Mendes<\/a> knows, of course. But do we expect him to reveal plot lines and real location of the morgue?
