East Finchley has a rich history of pig markets, and a more recent musical heritage to explore

East Finchley in medieval times was part of the Bishope of London’s hunting grounds, and later a centre for the pig trade but the arrival of the railway produced a Victorian suburb. Affordable housing and immigration created a vibrant musical heritage and community identity. Pop icons associated with the area include George Michael, Amy Winehouse and Mick Jagger. The celebrated Cherry Tree Woods Festival survived an attempt to close it down in a dispute with the council over political representation.Learn more on this fascinating guided walk.
